Bangladesh will tour Zimbabwe for a bilateral series in June-July this year, the latter country’s cricket board confirmed earlier this week. The Bangla Tigers recently whitewashed Pakistan 2-0 in a Test series, and await the arrival of Australia on their shores. Bangladesh will host the Aussies for three ODIs and as many T20Is from 9 to 21 June before boarding the flight bound for Africa.
According to a release from the ICC, Zimbabwe Cricket said that Bangladesh will tour the southern African nation and play a full-fledged series. This series includes a Test, three One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals. The Test (28 June to 2 July) and all the ODIs (6 July, 9 July and 11 July) will be played at the Harare Sports Club. The T20 Internationals (15 July, 17 July and 19 July), however, will be contested at the iconic Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, about 440km southwest of Harare.
These teams had last met in a Test series in Bangladesh last year, which ended 1-1. Zimbabwe had scripted a famous victory in the series opener before Bangladesh made a strong comeback in the second to level it. This series against Bangladesh will be Zimbabwe’s first since the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, in which they had memorable victories over Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. They also reached the Super 8 stage in the biennial tournament.
Zimbabwe Cricket managing director Givemore Makoni was understandably delighted by this announcement.
“We are delighted to confirm Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe for what we expect to be a highly competitive and exciting series across all formats. This tour is hugely significant for us as it marks the return of top-level international cricket to our home venues following the team’s outstanding performances at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earlier this year. Our supporters have every reason to be proud of what we have achieved in recent months, and we are looking forward to seeing fans once again rally behind the team in Harare and Bulawayo,” he was quoted as saying.
