Bangladesh defeated Ireland by four wickets in the second T20I played between the two teams at the Bir Shreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday, November 29. The Irish won the first match of the series. With this win, Bangladesh have levelled it 1-1. The final match will take place on Tuesday, December 2.

Ireland batted first in this match and put up an excellent total of 170-6 on the board, even though the pitch was not exactly a highway. Opener and captain Paul Stirling got his team off to a good start with a 14-ball 29, alongside fellow opener Tim Tector, who scored 38. Their top scorer, however, was wicketkeeper Lorcan Tucker. He took 32 balls to score 41 before being run out. Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan returned with 3-25 for the Bangladeshis.

In response, Bangladesh lost opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim (7) quite early. However, Parvez Hossain Emon (43) and captain Litton Das (57) ensured that there were no major hiccups. Although the target was a stiff one, Bangladesh, helped by middle-order batter Saif Hassan’s 22 and all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin’s 7-ball unbeaten 17, crossed the line quite comfortably, with two balls to spare. Mark Adair and Gareth Delany picked up a couple of wickets apiece for Ireland.

Bangladesh vs Ireland – 3rd T20I Prediction and Preview (02.12.2025)

The three-match T20I series between Bangladesh and Ireland hangs in the balance after the first game was won by the former, and the second by the latter. The third match will take place in Chattogram on Tuesday, December 2. This final game will put an end to all confusion, with the side winning this, pocketing the series as well. Bangladesh were confounded by the Irish in the first match of the series, but they came back strongly enough to win the second.

Bangladesh will resort to using spin as their primary weapon against the visitors, since the latter are not known for using their feet too much. Yet, the hosts have conceded far too many runs in the middle overs to their liking, and perhaps the usage of pace in those overs may help them. Ireland have used a simple strategy of trying to hit through the line for as much as possible, and it has helped them out. The fact that the pitches have been fairly conducive to run-making has also played a part.

Bangladesh were not able to string together a big opening partnership in the second match, and that is something they will have to work on. The visitors know that by varying the pace of the ball, they can get the Bangladeshi batters lured into playing false shots. However, the home team are wily enough to read the pitch better than their opponents, and then play according to each circumstance and situation. Come what may, both teams will have to utilise the fielding restrictions inside the powerplay well.

Predicted Teams

BAN: Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Litton Das (c) (wk), Saif Hassan, Towhid Hridoy, Nurul Hasan, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mahedi Hasan,

Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin.

IRE: Paul Stirling (c), Tim Tector, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker (wk), Benjamin Calitz, George Dockrell, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Matthew Humphreys, Joshua Little.

Key Players

Litton Das (BAN): Captain Litton Das starred with 57 runs in the second match, and played a vital role in helping his team chase Ireland’s target down. The wicketkeeper-batter is known to possess a calm head on his shoulders and can be trusted to bring composure in a heated situation. Das is excellent inside the powerplay, when he likes to go over the top, but he can switch gears in the middle overs too.

Mark Adair (IRE): Seamer Mark Adair has been one of the bright spots in the Irish bowling unit. He has the ability to consistently hit the deck hard and even get the ball to move in the initial stages. Adair’s consistency gives him an advantage over most of his opponents, and the two wickets he picked up in the second T20I were thanks largely to his ability to endure and remain faithful to the plan set in place by his captain, Paul Stirling.

Match Prediction

Bangladesh appear to have regained their momentum, and we expect them to win. Quality-wise, they are ahead of their opponents. Yet, in T20 cricket, the side that plays better on the night usually wins. Bangladesh will have to be wary of taking Ireland too lightly, and cannot do away with medium pace altogether in the middle overs. Most importantly, their seamers have to nail the yorkers and cutters in the death overs so that Ireland’s batters are not able to get under them and hit huge sixes.
